The EnergiVault system creates a dynamic “liquid ice” slurry, comprising millions of spherical ice crystals, each measuring less than 0.1mm in diameter.

Because these crystals are suspended in fluid rather than frozen into a solid block, the surface area available for heat exchange is exponential. This allows the system to absorb and release thermal energy at speeds legacy systems cannot match.
